Autistic V.O.I.C.E. Project

The Autistic V.O.I.C.E. Project is a podcast by Matt Lowry, LPP and Erin Findley, PsyD about autistic culture and experiences.

If you've heard of the Autistic Culture podcast, this is the same Matt. He is still a very amusing guy who provides me with a lot of chuckles on my way to work, so I'm glad he's back in my autistic ears. Also, he talks about having PDA (Persistent Drive for Autonomy) on this podcast!

According to Matt, this new podcast focuses more on HOW and WHY to be more autistic (yes, more :), including what being autistic can be like and the intricacies of living a life that is more aligned with your brain.

And it's hosted by two neuro-affirming autistic clinicians who helped develop Autistic-Centered Therapy! Pretty cool.

For this podcast, Matt's co-host is Erin, an AuDHD mental health practitioner who provides a lot of interesting insight into cross-neurotype relationships. She tends to supply some additional sanity/reason/nuance to Matt's sarcastic zaniness (and she has her entertaining moments as well). Sometimes they have autistic guests on, and it seems like you can just email them and offer to be a guest if you want.

The tone of the show is quite sweet at times. It's always nice to hear Matt's cute, wholesome stories about his clock-loving autistic son. And the end of episode 31 made me cry a little bit when they said some things about how you're not alone, even if you have no support in your life, and they wish the world were better for us.

Very rad and also neato to have another podcast where autistic stories are centered, especially one hosted by autistic therapists. If you're interested, I recommend it.
