The autism resource I point people toward the most by far is Fergus Murray's article on the theory of monotropism. I first read it while deep in the throes of my "Am I autistic?!" existential crisis, and it gave me all the answers I needed. To say it saved my ass is an understatement. I owe a lot of my sanity to the holistic way it explains autism, so if I had to pick a favorite of all time, this is definitely it. <3

I also love this article by Matt Lowry, LPP on the concept of Autistic-Centered Therapy. I have long been haunted by the way my brain largely rejects common therapy methods, finds logical holes in every soothing reframe, and gets scrambled like an egg when trying to process neurotypical communication. When you have a brain like mine, alternative methods like AuCT are pretty much mandatory, because it's likely that nothing else will work.

The idea of autistic therapists doing autism-affirming therapy with autistic people sounds quite enticing and world-changing to me, so go read about it!

Another nostalgic favorite of mine is the YouTube channel I'm Autistic, Now What? by Meg, whose videos I came across very early in my autism journey as well. Through her, I learned what PDA (Persistent Drive for Autonomy) is, which explained... a whole lot about my entire life and personality. And she does research and cites her sources! A welcome rarity in the dicey woods of social media.

Meg also made being autistic seem far less scary for me with her jokes, memes, and general charm, which gives me a soft spot for her channel. She has tons of content, so it's likely she's got something for whatever autistic thing you're looking for.

Honorable mention to Yonezu Kenshi (米津玄師), incredibly talented singer of many songs and the only openly autistic Japanese celebrity I know of. Autistic Asian representation is scarce to say the least, and he was my favorite singer even before I knew <3

His fast, almost obsessive lyrics remind me of my own echolalia and preoccupation with words, and he reports always feeling like a monster who didn't know what to say growing up. (I felt like an alien ;)

If you haven't listened to his music yet, you seriously need to! It is badass. His song "Garakuta" feels especially autistic to me.
