Mutual Aid

Autistic People of Color Fund

The Autistic People of Color Fund is a mutual aid fund aiming to provide direct financial support and reparations to autistic people of color.

It's run by the Autistic Women & Nonbinary Network, and the fund itself seems to be managed by people of color themselves.

Anyone can donate to their Fund for Community Reparations for Autistic People of Color’s Interdependence, Survival, and Empowerment. Then, the Autistic People of Color Fund provides approved recipients microgrants of less than or up to $500 via check or direct deposit.

Applicants must be autistic people of color themselves, not non-autistic family or caregivers, at least 15 years old, and reside in the United States.

If approved, the funds must be used for the benefit of the autistic person, in any way they wish, and not for unaffirming therapies such as ABA. (This is a good sign in my book.)

I don't have personal experience with this organization, but through research, it's the best-seeming mutual aid fund I could find for autistic people of color specifically. If anyone does have direct experience with it, I'd love to hear about it; you can email us at contact@aylins-autisticresources.org.
